What is a Family Law Strategy Session?

A Family Law Strategy Session is a structured, attorney-led meeting designed to provide clear legal analysis and strategic direction regarding your Florida family law matter. It includes preparation, a focused 60-minute strategy discussion, a brief review of the public court docket if a case is pending, and a detailed written outline recap of the session.

Do I speak directly with the attorney first?

No. The process begins with completion of the confidential questionnaire and a brief intake call with our office. This allows us to conduct a conflict check and confirm that the firm is able to proceed ethically and without restriction. Once cleared, your 60-minute Strategy Session will be conducted directly with Attorney Anna Fernandez.

Why is the questionnaire required before scheduling?

The questionnaire allows the firm to gather essential background information and conduct a conflict check before proceeding. Family law matters often involve multiple parties, prior counsel, and related proceedings. Completing the questionnaire ensures the session is focused, efficient, and ethically compliant.

What is a conflict check?

A conflict check is a required ethical review conducted before any legal services are provided. It confirms that the firm has not represented the opposing party or any individual whose interests would conflict with yours. This process protects your confidentiality and ensures that we are able to proceed appropriately.

What if a conflict is identified?

If a conflict of interest prevents the firm from proceeding, you will be notified promptly and the Strategy Session will not be scheduled.

What happens during the intake call?

The intake call is administrative and procedural. During this call, we confirm basic case details, review procedural posture, identify any pending hearings, and ensure there are no conflicts. The substantive legal analysis takes place during the Strategy Session with Attorney Fernandez.

Is the intake call the same as the Strategy Session?

No. The intake call is not legal advice. It is a preparatory step. The Strategy Session is a separate, structured 60-minute legal discussion conducted directly with Attorney Fernandez.

How is this different from a standard consultation with a family law attorney?

This is not a meet-and-greet or introductory call. It is a substantive legal strategy session intended for individuals who want thoughtful analysis of their legal position, potential exposure, and practical next steps under Florida law.

What types of Florida family law matters can be addressed during the session?

The session may address divorce, paternity, child custody and timesharing, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, post-judgment modifications, enforcement actions, and other changes in family dynamics under Florida law.

Does the Strategy Session include document review?

The flat fee includes review of your completed intake questionnaire and a brief overview of the public court docket if a case is pending. It does not include advance review of extensive financial records, pleadings, or large document productions.

Will I receive anything in writing after the session?

Yes. After the session, you will receive a detailed written outline recap summarizing the key legal considerations discussed and recommended strategic next steps. This recap is not a formal legal opinion or litigation memorandum but is intended to provide clarity and structure moving forward.

How detailed is the written recap?

You will receive a structured written outline summarizing the primary legal issues discussed, strategic considerations under Florida law, and recommended next steps. It is not a formal legal opinion or litigation memorandum.

Does this session create an attorney-client relationship for ongoing representation?

The Strategy Session is a standalone legal service. Ongoing representation begins only after a separate written retainer agreement is executed and the required retainer is paid.

What if I decide to hire the firm after the Strategy Session?

If ongoing representation is appropriate, the scope of services, fee structure, and next steps will be discussed during or after the session. Representation is not automatic and must be formalized through a written agreement.

Is the Strategy Session appropriate if I have an upcoming hearing?

Yes. If you have an upcoming hearing in a Florida family law case, the session can help you understand procedural posture, potential court considerations, and strategic preparation steps based on publicly available docket information and the facts you provide.
